Program Notes:
Falling.
From the stairs or from grace.
The works of choreographer Tilman O’Donnell transcend genre boundaries. Between choreo- graphic sculpture, art in motion, dynamic object sculpture and kinetic composition, dancers change the perception of people, relationships and space through their versatile orientation. Archetypes become material, objects become figures. Bodies measure spaces and relation- ships differently. O’Donnell’s choreographies are characterized by precision, subtle humour and playfulness. Inspired by the body morphology of sculptor Erwin Wurm, pop and video art and the movement principles of dance pioneer Steve Paxton, Der Fall (The Fall) is a meditation on falling – in life, in love and so on.
